Who runs MyTempero
MyTempero is a recipe app run by one person, Geraldo Macedo, in the United States — not by a company. Questions or requests: privacy@mytempero.com.
What MyTempero keeps about you
- Your sign-in. You sign in with Google or with an email code, through Microsoft Entra — the sign-in service MyTempero uses — which holds your email address. MyTempero's own database does not: it knows you by an anonymous identifier.
- Your recipes and photos — what you import, type or edit, and the photos you add.
- What you share with groups — the groups you create or join, the name you choose to show other members, and which recipes you share with them.
- Your favourites, private to you.
- Your account level — whether your account may import recipes.
What stays on your phone
Your shopping lists, a copy of your library for quick opening, cached photos and your settings stay on the phone, and the app does not back them up to Google. A diagnostics log is kept on the phone too; it records what the app did — counts, timings, error codes — never your recipes' text or the addresses of pages you share, and it leaves the phone only if you choose to send it.
How MyTempero uses AI
When you import a recipe, an AI model reads it out of the text, photo or video captions you gave it. It is instructed to copy only what the source states — it does not add ingredients, invent amounts or times, or fill in a field the source leaves blank — and the app's own code enforces part of this. It does not create recipes. AI can still misread, so every import is shown to you to review and correct before it is saved.
The model runs in Microsoft Azure. Under Microsoft's terms, what you import is not used to train AI models and is not shared with OpenAI; Microsoft may process a request in any region where the model runs, and may keep content its safety systems flag as possibly abusive for a limited time for review. Web pages and Instagram posts you share are opened by the app on your phone, not by MyTempero's servers; for a YouTube video, MyTempero's server asks YouTube for its captions.
App updates
The app checks for updates with Expo, the service that delivers them. Each check sends a random identifier for that installation of the app — not linked to your account — the app's version, and, if an update failed to start, a short technical error report. It sends nothing from your recipes or your account.
Where it is stored
In Microsoft Azure, in the eastern United States.
Who sees your data
You; the members of any group you share a recipe with (that recipe, and the name you chose for the group); and the operator, for running and fixing the service. MyTempero does not sell your data, show ads, or use advertising or tracking tools.
How long it is kept, and deleting it
You can delete your account in the app (Account → Delete account) or at account.mytempero.com. Deletion is scheduled seven days ahead, so you can change your mind; after that your recipes, photos, groups, memberships and favourites are deleted.
Some copies outlast the deletion for a while:
- deleted photos can be recovered for 30 days;
- the database can be restored to any point in the last 7 days;
- backup copies are kept in Microsoft Azure and deleted automatically after 30 days;
- the service's technical logs — including the text of recent imports — are kept 30 days.
Your sign-in account in Microsoft Entra, which holds your email address, is removed on request to privacy@mytempero.com.
Children
MyTempero is not meant for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask what MyTempero holds about you, ask for a correction or a copy, or ask for deletion, at privacy@mytempero.com. If you are in the EU or the UK, data protection law gives you these rights, and you may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with its date.
